Fiè di Sopra is located at 900 m a.s.l. in the east of the main village of the municipality Fiè allo Sciliar, which is Fiè di Sotto, on the road to Umes and the Pond of Fiè. The Romanesque Saint Margaret Church was first mentioned in written documents in 1397. Around 1500, on its foundations the new church was constructed and dedicated to the Saints Margaret and Lawrence.
Fiè di Sopra has a total of 500 inhabitants. Three little lakes nestle in the forest surrounding the village, which are the famous Pond of Fiè and the less known Huber and Gflierer ponds that can best be discovered in a walk. Another pleasant spot of land is the Tuff mountain pasture, extending at the foot of the Sciliar massif. Another mountain tour, however, takes you to the Bolzano mountain hut (2,457 m a.s.l.).
