The theme path in the forest of Laranza near Castelrotto tells interesting facts on the fascinating world of mushrooms
Image gallery: Mushroom Path
The Mushroom Path (Pilzeweg, in German) in the beautiful forest of Laranza between Siusi allo Sciliar and Castelrotto exhibits four information panels in German and Italian language telling interesting facts and curiosities about mushrooms and their importance for people and nature: "Countless biodiversity", "Food, drug & poison", "Mushrooms are nutrition artists" and "Life in the background". Moreover, some kinds of mushrooms, like the cep, chanterelle, fly agaric, amanita and horse tail fungus, that grow in the wood of Laranza, are carved from tree trunks. Walking time: approx. half an hour.
The Mushroom Path starts near the sports field Laranza-Telfen, south of Castelrotto. On the theme path, about halfway, a path branches off towards a wooden high seat, offering a wonderful view on the area of Siuso allo Sciliar and Castelrotto. If you like, you can combine the Mushroom Path with the well-known Laranza round tour. It is strictly forbidden to collect mushrooms along the path!
