It’s said that the wife of an exiled knight makes troubles in the ruins of the Castelvecchio castle near Siusi
The Castelvecchio Ruin (Hauenstein) dating back to the 12th century is located above the village of Siusi allo Sciliar. It was the domicile of the minstrel Oswald von Wolkenstein. An ancient legend winds around this castle, telling of some shepherds watching over their flock by night.
Suddenly a window was opened in the castle and a woman appeared, brushing her beautiful hair. The long hair was illuminated by the moonlight, her face, however, was a skull. Scared, the shepherds took flight when she started throwing sand and stones at them.
Legend has it that the Skeleton of Castelvecchio is the wife of a banished knight, still waiting for his return to the Castelvecchio Ruin.
