At the slopes above the Valle Isarco valley, Italy’s northernmost wine-growing area, the hamlets of the municipality of Fiè allo Sciliar (Völs am Schlern) are located. The municipal area ranges from 315 m up to 2,564 m a.s.l. and also includes the sunny, partly steep slopes where the vines thrive well: in Novale di Presule, Novale di Fiè and Steg the 35 hectares of vineyards of the traditional winegrowers of Fiè are located.
Some of them bottle their wines themselves, some supply the surrounding wineries. At the top of the wine production in the Alpe di Siusi area are the white wines with almost 80 % of the wine-growing area, especially Sauvignon and Pinot Blanc, followed by Müller Thurgau, Kerner and Gewürztraminer as well as Chardonnay and Silvaner. The here produced red wines include Pinot Noir and Vernatsch.
