Starting in Compaccio, at 1,840 m a.s.l. (reachable by car only until 9 am, afterwards by the Alpe di Siusi Cable Car), we cycle on the asphalted road towards Hotel Panorama - Punta d'Oro - Molignon mountain hut. At the Hotel Punta d'Oro we take the gravel trail no. 7 to the Molignon mountain hut (2,054 m). After a short descent until the Rio Saltria, we start the steep ascent towards the Dialer mountain hut, which we reach after about 200 m.
The most challenging part of this MTB tour is the following steep asphalted road through the Duron valley, up to the 2,444 m high Alpe di Tires mountain hut. On our right we see the bizarre rock formations of the Denti di Terrarossa (Horse Teeth mountains). After a very pleasant rest in the mountain hut we cycle back to the Dialer and Molignon mountain huts, where we take trail no. 8 towards Saltria (1,670 m), passing the Tirler mountain hut. From Saltria we take the asphalted road back to our starting point Compaccio in Alpe di Siusi, a component locality of the municipality of Castelrotto.
This MTB tour requires good physical condition and fitness. However, the breathtaking Dolomites panorama is very worth the effort!
